Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of the material by utilizing the edge produced at the boring process of a frame as an electron shield. CONSTITUTION:A circular flange section 14 of a side wall section 13 of a frame 12 made of carbon steel board is constructed with a base area 14a and an inner circumferential area 14b inclining with the angle (a) (15 deg.-45 deg.) to the electron gun side. The cut end face 15 of said area 14b has a curved face 15a and a sharp edge 15a at the top projected along the inclination to the central axis side which has the length of approximately 0.1-0.5mm. and the radius at the tip section of shorter than approximately 0.1mm.. The curved face 15a and the edge 15b are produced by the clearance of the metal die when boring the frame 13. Said edge 15b will prevent the electron beam from entering to the screen face side and function as the electron shield. Consequently the electron shield can be eliminated resulting in the reduction of the member.
