Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the modal noise, by locating an optical deflecting element in which the polarized surface of light can be changed with an electric signal, between a light emitting element and optical fiber in an optical transmission circuit. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element 3 is illuminated via a drive circ-it 2 in response to a communication signal of a signal source 1. An optical polarized element 5 in which the polarized plane of light is rotated with a signal of a signal source 6, e.g., electroluminescent effect element like LiTaO3, Farady effect element, or electrostrictive effect element, is located between the element 3 and an input terminal of an optical fiber 4. The signal frequency of the signal source 6 is sufficiently made apart from the band of communication signal from the signal source 1 without interference. Thus, the rays can pass through multipath without injuring the rfficiency, allowing to reduce the modal noise.
