Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the modal noise, by locating an optical deflecting element in which the direction of light or phase difference is changed with an electric signal, between a light emitting element and an optical fiber in an optical transmission circuit. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element 3 is illuminated via a drive circuit 2 according to the communication signal of a signal source 1. An optical deflecting element 5 in which the direction of light or phase is changed with the signal of a signal source 6, e.g., an element made of LiNbO3 and LiTaO3 is located. The frequency of signal of the signal source 6 is taken as sufficiently apart from the band of communication signal from the signal source 1, without interference. Thus, the modal noise can be reduced by passing through rays into multipath without injuring efficiency.
