Abstract
PURPOSE: To suppress the deterioration of characteristics due to mutual coupling between element antennas, by mounting a cylindrical metallic rim to each element antenna consisting of axial mode helical antennas having 0.4∼0.6λ antenna height.
CONSTITUTION: Four helical elements 1 are located on a reflecting plate 2 with equal interval. A cylindrical small sized metallic rim 3 is mounted around the four helical elements 1 by taking them respectively as the center. Further, an element antenna matching circuit 4 and a synthesis circuit 5 are provided. To make the array antenna small in size generally, when the interval of the antenna elements is narrowed, the antenna characteristics are deteriorated due to the mutual coupling between the antenna elements and the reflecting plate, but it can be prevented by mounting the metallic rim 3.
