Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently move and discharge excavated soil without the leak of compressed air from a pneumatic work chamber to outside by using a system in which excavated soil is pressed from a spiral face onto the inner surface of an outer cover and gate valves are provided to an excavated soil-charging hopper and a soil tank.
CONSTITUTION: Excavated soil M is pressed on the inner surface 5' of an outer cover 5 by the spiral face F of the spiral blade 18 of a vertical screw conveyer 3, whereby the soil and sand M is effectivey moved upwards by a frictional force between the inner surface 5' and the soil and sand M. The gate valves 10 and 12 of the excavated soil-charging hopper 9 and the soil tank 11 are opened and the gate valve 14 is closed to move excavated soil inside the pneumatic work chamber 2 of a caisson 1. Since soil and sand are discharged by closing the valve 12 and opening the valve 14, the soil and sand can be continuously discharged without the leak of compressed air. Also, since the connection of conveyers 3 as the caisson settles is made by closing the valve 10, the leak of compressed air can be prevented.
