Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the omission of the thermocouple of a dew point meter for simplifying the constition of the dew point meter by taking advantage of a phenomenon that the combined resistance of the surface resistance of a resistance element having a negative temperaure coefficient and a volume resistance simultaneously becomes the maximum at dew point as well as a function of dew point temperature. CONSTITUTION:The surface resistance of a resistance element 13 having a negative temperature coefficient decreases suddenly near a dew point temperature, while the volume resistance thereof increases in accordance with the temperature characteristics of a normal thermistor, therefore, the characteristics of the combined conductance of a surface conductance and a volume cnductance includes the minimum value. When the electrical resistance between a cylindrical electrode 11 and an annular electrode 12 is measured by means of a measuring instrument 15 while the resistance element 13 is cooled by cool air supplied from a cooling air source 14, the combined conductance diminishes gradually and rises suddenly at the moment when the surface 13a of the resistance element 13 is dewed. The minimum value of the combined conductance is employed in obtaining a dew point temperature. Thus the thermocouple and the temperature measuring device can be omitted so that the construction of the dew point meter is simplified.
