Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the generation of uniform radial flux at a fluid cross section, by a method wherein an insulating plate is made to extend in a direction of radius in a measuring tube in which a pair of coils, having magnetic poles of the same polarity, are placed such that the magnetic poles are positioned facing to each other. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic insulating plate 3 is mounted in the direction of radius of a measuring tube 2, and an insulating lining 4 is further applied to the surface thereof. Coils 1 and 1', in which magnetic poles of the same polarity are positioned facing to each other, are spaced away from each other at a flange 5 of the measuring tube 2, and electrodes 8 and 8' are located at a surface of an insulating lining through the insulating plate 3 so as to make contact with fluid to be measured to fetch an electromotive force through a lead wire 9. In this constitution, a radial uniform magnetic flux is applied to a fluid section at a central part of a flow meter positioned between the coils 1 and 1', an electromotive force along an insulating lining 4 of the insulating plate 3 is fetched, and a mean velocity of flow distribution at the central part of the fluid section is determined as a mean velocity of flow.
