Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the deflection of an electron beam and improve its focussing characteristics by providing an accelerating electrode on the surface of a screen board consisting of an insulating plate and arranging it so that the accelerating voltage can ununiformly be applied to the electron beam advance direction. CONSTITUTION:An accelerating electrode substrate 17 consists of insulating substrates such as glass and ceramic plates and an accelerating electrode 18 is provided on their surface by vacuum deposition, screen printing, on the like. Besides, the accelerating electrode substrate 17 is arranged in opposition to a deflection electrode substrate 10 between the front glass plate 14 and rear glass plate and functions as a screen which supports the inter-front and-rear plates. It is constructed so that a container can withstand atmospheric pressure. Besides, a phosphor layer 15 and a metalback electrode 16 are provided on the inner side of the front glass plate 14. As a result, the deflection of an electron beam and its focussing characteristics be improved.
