Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the tight seal of a pressure chamber and to enable the captioned unit to perform properly at all times by making adjustable from outside a spring set which determines the rising characteristic of advance angle and delay angle. CONSTITUTION:The interior of a housing 1 is provided with an air chamber A and a pressure chamber B separated by a diaphragm 2. A switchover valve 12 allows either a positive or negative pressure source to be applied to the pressure chamber B. When a first spring 10 is contracted by a positive pressure, the ignition timing is delayed. When a second spring 10 is contracted by a negative pressure, the ignition timing is advanced. The set loads of the first and second springs can be adjusted by first and second adjusting members 7 and 8. The adjusting member 7 can be operated from the outside of the housing 1. The adjusting members 7 and 8 are all installed to the air chamber A only. No operating unit is provided inside the pressure chamber B. Therefore, this construction provides an excellent tight seal.
