Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst having superior initial activity, having strength and permitting abrasive cleaning by granulating specific raw material compounds, and firing these under specific conditions, then impregnating the same with nickel salt followed by calcining.
CONSTITUTION: Raw materials of total 100pts.wt. consisting of 19W30pts. wt. clay of ≤2wt% of iron oxide content, 65W80pts. wt. chamotte of ≤1.5wt% of iron oxide content, and 1W5 pts.wt. nickel oxide prepd. from nickel carbonate as a starting material are first mixed uniformly and disintegrated, fter which they are granulated to spherical shapes. Thence, the granules are fired at 1,200W 1,350°C so as to contain 0.05W2mol the residual NiO based on 1mol of the formed NiO.Al2O3, after which they are impregnated with a nickel salt soln., so that 2.2W5.5wt% basing on the carrier NiO is deposited. Thereafter these are calcined at 600W650°C. The resultant catalyst for modification of hydrocarbon by steam is highly strong, permits restoration of activity through abrasive cleaning and has superior low temp. activity.
