Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the deviation of a spacer and the bending of substrates and provide a uniform gap spacing by applying load by fluid pressure upon the glass substrates of a liquid crystal display device thereby providing the surfaces which are applied with pressure in such a way that the gap between two sheets of the substrates maintains a prescribed distance. CONSTITUTION:At least two sheets of electrode plates of a liquid crysal display device which are sealed by means of a sealant contg. spacer materials are pressed always under constant pressure P by putting a medium 6 transmitting static fluid pressure of water or air between a steel plate 1 and a film 5 of sufficient pressure resistance and temp. resistance such as silicone rubber and maintaining the prescribed pressure P by the elasticity of the film 5 by means of a control valve 7, a valve 8 and a spring 4, whereby the sealant is heated to set. Although the electrode plate assembly 2 is not uniformly defined of its spacing by the degrees of elasticity of the steel plate 1 and a lower steel plate 3, it is uniformly pressed by the presence of the film 5 and is joined to have a uniform intersubstrate spacing. Hence, the superior display causing no irregularities and the like in the display of the liquid crystal is obtained.
