Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance dissipation of heat and magnetic efficiency and increase a coupling torque by a method wherein a coupling operational part of a magnetic particle type magnetic coupling device is located at the outermost periphery, and only those parts necessary for constituting a magnetic circuit are formed of magnetic materials.
CONSTITUTION: A driven member 3 and the second coupling part 4b are connected to a shaft 2. The first coupling part 1b of the driven member 1 is placed on the outside of the second coupling part 4b, with a gap (g) filled with magnetic particles 7 between the coupling parts. An exciting coil 15 for magnetizing the particles 7 is placed inside the second coupling part 4b. A fitting part 3a of the driven member 3 is formed of a non-magnetic material such as aluminum, and only the coupling parts 1b, 2b and a stator 14 are formed of magnetic materials.
