Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having excellent adhesively, paintability and dyeability, by melting and kneading specific amounts of polypropylene, low-density polyethylene, an unsaturated carboxylic acid, and an organic peroxide, and heat-treating the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: 99W50pts.(wt.) of PP is compound with 1W50pts. of a low- density PE (pref. having an MFI of 0.5W30g/10min and a specific gravity of 0.915W0.925), 0.5W5pts. of an unsaturated carboxylic acid (derivative) (e.g. maleic anhydride), 0.01W1pt. of an organic peroxide (e.g. benzoyl peroxide) to promote the reaction, and if necessary, fillers, heat-stabilizers, etc., and the mixture is molten and kneaded at a temperature between the melting point and 280°C (pref. at 170W250°C for 1W10min) with a tumbling mixer, Henschel mixer, etc. to effect the grafting reaction. The resultant modified polypropylene composition is deaerated by heating at ≥60°C (pref. 100°CW melting point) for 10minW10hr (to reduce the unreacted monomer content of ≤0.1mol%) to obtain the objective composition.
