Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize the oscillation of a catamaran ship with a less recovery force against pitching with gates left open which is provided at the openings of a hollow running through each hull thereof at a position closer to the bow and stern of the hull from the right to left side near the draft line thereof when it meets violent waves.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow 3 is provided near the designed draft line 2 of a catamaran running through hulls 1 and 1 at a position closer to the bow and stern thereof from the right to left side. Gates 4 are provided at the openings on the right and left sides through a winch 7, a rope 5 and a pulley 6. When waves oscillate the hulls violently, the gates are left open to ruduce the area of the water plane at the designed draft. Consequently, the lesser recovery force prolongs the period of oscillation of the hulls. This can lessen the acceleration on a human body or cargo.
