Abstract

PURPOSE: To offer a magnetic recording medium for vertical magnetizing recording of high density which provides the recording with low power consumption, by using ions of hexagonal ferrite with uniaxial anisotropy and extremely fine grains of a substituted body.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic magnetic layer of high magnetic permeability (permalloy, etc.) having ≥5,000G saturated magnetization and ≥50 magnetic permeability is provided as a substrate to a ≤50μm thickness by vapor deposition, electrodeposition, etc., and on it, a coating type vertical magnetizing recording layer is provided which is obtained by dispersing hexagonal ferrite having ≥2,000 θe coercive force and ≤0.3μm average grain size [formula I (A=Ba, Sr, Ca, Pd, etc., and M=Ti, Ge, etc.) or forula II (A=Ba, Sr, Ca, Pb, etc., and M=V, Nb, Sb, Ta, etc.)] into a binder such as resin.
