Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium being easy to be handled, easy to be manufactured and suitable for magnetic recording in high density by a method wherein a part of a specified ferrite of hexagonal system is substituted by CO, and the powdered magnetic particles having a specified particle diameter are arranged making the c axis to be perpendicular to the face. CONSTITUTION:A part of M or Fe of a ferrite of hexagonal system being indicated with a general formula AM2Fe16O27 (A indicates one or more elements of Ba, Sr, Ca, Pb and M indicates one or more elements of Zn, Ni, Cu, Fe, Mn) is substituted by Co to obtain a ferrite and is formed to be particles having average diameter of 0.01-0.3mu. This corpuscles of ferrite are mixed with an appropriate binder and are applied to a film. Applying magnetic orientation, the film is treated to dry or is rolled mechanically to arrange the c axis of the particles to be perpendicular against the surface of the substratum. By this way, a magnetic recording medium having flexibility and being easy to be handled, easy to be manufactured and suitable for magnetically perpendicular recording in high density can be obtained.
