Abstract
PURPOSE:To prepare the catalyst capable of oxidizing CO or a hydrocarbon at a temp. of about 100 deg.C or more by a method wherein a transition metal ion is subjected to alkali treatment and subjected to ion exchange reaction with an interlaminar ion of a synthetic mica type ore to form a composite with a hydroxide of the transition metal and, further, said composite is heated. CONSTITUTION:1-2mol aqueous solution of a nitrate, a hydrochloride or a sulfate of Cu, Ag, Au, Zu, Cd and other transition metal of Ib, IIb, IVb, Vb, VIb, VIIb of the Periodic Table is added to a sol containing about 1% of the hydration swellable synthetic mica type ore such as an Na-tetrasilicic mica, an Na-taeniolite, an Li- taeniolite, an Na-hectorite or an Li-hectorite while said sol is stirred. Stirring is carried out for about 30-60min to subject the linterlaminar ion of said synthetic mica type ore with the transition metal ion. In this case, its pH is about 2-4 but 3-5N of NaOH is added to alkalify and allowed to stand after stirring and the obtained composite is converted to a metal oxide by heating to 300 deg.C or more to obtain the catalyst.
