Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an exterior decorative part material for casting having high strength and causing no stress corrosion cracking by preparing a Cu alloy consisting of Cu, Mn and Ni in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A Cu alloy consisting of 10W25% Mn, 10W30% Ni and the balance Cu is prepared. This material is about twice as high as conventional brass in tensile strength and more than about twice in hardness. Since no Zn is contained, dezincing phenomenon and stress corrosion cracking do not occur, and the alloy has high basic strength, so it is very effectively used in the manufacture of an extra-thin watch by a die casting method.
