Abstract
PURPOSE:To accomplish heat treatment without generating any strain even with a thin metal strip which has hitherto been considered difficult to treat by moving the metal strip from a heating zone to a cooling zone in a floating state while slowly cooling the same. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum strip 6a which is let off in an arrow 30 direction is supplied afloat to a heat treatment device 1, and is heated in a heating device 2. After it is next cooled in a slow cooling device 12 and a cooling device 21, it is wound with a rewinding reel 6b. In this case, the strip 6 is held afloat by operating burners 10, fans 8, 16, 23, respectively between plenum chambers 7 and 7, 15 and 15, 22 and 22.
