Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the hot rolled steel sheet from generation of irregular flatness, by applying a treatment to the hot rolled steel sheet so as to make its lateral temperature distribution uniform immediately after the finishing pass or just before entering the coiler, in manufacturing the hot rolled steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:The irregularity of lateral temperature distribution of the hot rolled steel sheet immediately after the finishing pass, or the irregularity of the lateral cooling effect, tends to cause a defective flatness in the steel sheet while being rolled by the next skin pass mill. On purpose to minimize this irregularity of lateral temperature distribution, the edge of steel sheet is heated, or the cooling is carried out with the controlled amount of the cooling water to be sprayed upon the edge of steel sheet undergoing the water cooling, or the heating and the water rate adjustment are simultaneously operated. For example, during the finishing pass, the edge 2a of steel sheet 2 is heated by a couple of burners 3, or a water deflector plate 5 is installed above the hot-run table in order to adjust the water rate to be supplied from the cooling water header 4 upon the steel sheet edge 2a; hereby, the temperature difference between he middle and the edge of steel sheet 2 is minimized, and the temperature distribution is made to uniform.
