Abstract

PURPOSE:To decide the degree of alloying of a galvannealed sheet steel by irradiating characteristic X-rays to the galvannealed sheet having undergone alloying treatment, and measuring the intensity of the diffracted X-rays of the eta phase of the residual metal zinc. CONSTITUTION:In producing a galvannealed sheet steel by subjecting a zinc coated sheet steel to alloying treatment, if the zinc coated sheet sheet is subjected to the alloying treatment, its eta phase changes to mainly delta1 phase and xsi phase out of Fe-Zn intermetallic compounds owing to the diffusion of Fe, but characteristic X-rays are irradiated to the galvannealed sheet steel having been subjected to said alloying treatment and the diffraction intensity of the X-rays of the eta phase remained at this time is measured, whereby the degree of alloying of the galvannealed sheet steel is measured. As the diffracted X-rays from the eta phase, the (101) plane reflection (interplanar space 2.091Angstrom ) which is the strongest rays thereof is used.
