Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart lubricating properties to an enameled wire in order to improve coil windability, by a method wherein a vegetable oil composed of an ester derived from an unsaturated fatty acid and glycerin as the main component is blended with a paint, and the resulting insulating paint is coated on a conductor and baked.
CONSTITUTION: A vegetable oil composed of an ester derived from an unsaturated fatty acid and glycerin as the main component, such as soybeam oil or rapeseed oil, is blended with a paint in an amount of 2W10 equivalent % of the resin component of the paint. The resulting insulating paint is coated on a conductor and baked. Examples of the paints to be used as the base are polyester, epoxy, polyvinyl formal, polyurethane and polyamide. When the amount of the vegetable oil to be blended is less than 2 equivalent %, lubricating properties are insufficient. When the amount of the oil is more than 10 equivalent %, the surface of the resulting coating film will be roughened. Thus, it is not preferred to use the oil in an amount outside the above range. The coating film on the conductor may be wholly composed of the coating film obtd. by the above paint contg. the vegetable oil blended therewith. But, only the skin of the whole coating film may be composed of the coating film of the above paint.
