Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a novel complex compound having a specific ligand structure and applicable to a hydrogenation catalyst, etc. by reacting an Rh compound and an Sn compound in a hydrochloric acid soln. so that the atomic number ratio of Rh to Sn becomes a specified value and reacting the liq. reaction product with a specified amine compound.
CONSTITUTION: An Rh compound such as RhCl3.nH2O and an Sn compound such as SnCl2.nH2O are reacted in a hydrochloric acid soln. in 1:7W1:10 ratio of number of atoms of Rh to Sn, and the liq. reaction product is reacted with a compound such as [Rh(NH3)6]3 represented by formula I (where M is Rh or Ir, R is ammine or ethylene diamine (H2N-CH2-CH2-NH2) diamine, k is an integer of 3W6 and X is halogen) under appropriate conditions to obtain a novel complex compound represented by general formula II [where M is Rh or Ir, R is ammine (NH3) or ethylenediamine, K is an integer of 3W6 and n is an integer of 0W4 which expresses the number of the water of crystallizations]. This compound may be of formula III, IV or V correspondingly to the compound of formula I, and it is applicable to a hydrogenation catalyst or a catalyst for dehydrogenation reaction in which light energy takes part.
