Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a COD value of waste water discharged from a waste oil collector with a high efficiency, by separating an oily sludge and metals from the waste water, and then decomposing and separating organics from the waste water.
CONSTITUTION: An oily sludge is separated from waste water discharged from a waste oil collector, optionally by a process of absorbing the oily sludge with diatomaceous earth. The treated water is then neutraluzed, and metals contained therein are oxidized and separated. Thereafter, organics contained in the water are decomposed and separated from the water, by a proper method, preferably, by a process of decomposing the organics with bacteria, esp. by a process using a rotary plate. Thus the COD reduction rate is remarkably improved, e.g., 90W95%, as compared with a conventional process.
