Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively remive COD components from pool water and to remarkably reduce a required amount of supplemental fresh water, by radiating ultraviolet rays to the pool water in the presence of an injected chlorine agent.
CONSTITUTION: Water withdrawn from a pool 1 is carried to a strainer 4, where bulky solid in separated from the water, and to a filter 5 by a pump P, where solid suspensions are separated. The water is then carried to an ultraviolet radiation device 6, where COD components are separated from the water by the ultraviolet radiation, while a chlorine agent is charged from an injector 7 so as to keep a residual chloride content in the water at a predetermined level. The treated water is returned to the pool 1. In case where the residual chlorine content in the water out of the filter 5 is too low, the chlorine agent is charged from the injector 7 into the water to be carried in the ultraviolet radiation device 6. Consequently, the ability of ultraviolet rays for removing COD components is improved several times in the presence of chlorine.
