Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to expand or contract a picture at a high speed and at random magnification by generating a converted picture by expanding or contracting a binary picture to a memory as an original picture before storing it in an output buffer and then by displaying the picture under the control of a read circuit. CONSTITUTION:Picture read part 100 scans a document to obtain a binary picture consisting of (m) by (n) picture element through conversion and the binary picture is written in picture memory 200. The binary picture in memory 200 is considered to be an original picture and contracted or expanded by picture expanding-contracting device 300 to generate a converted picture, which is stored in output buffer 400. This converted picture is displayed on display part 500 under the control of read circuit 402. Then, control part 600 exercises control over respective parts. Thus, the picture can be expanded or contracted at a high speed and at random magnification.
