Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the working process therefor and to improve the self lubricating property thereof by a method wherein a carbon board is worked into a configuration of the guide plate and thereafter is reacted with silicon oxide to convert it into a silicon carbide layer. CONSTITUTION:The carbon base is formed by boring a necessary number of penetrating holes 3 having such sizes that print wires are slidable therethrough on a small board 2 of carbon. This carbon base 2 is entered into a furnace to heat it and react gaseous silicon oxide thereto. The formula of the reaction is 2C+SiO SiC+CO. There are an example wherein all of the carbon base 2 is converted into the silicon carbide and forms the silicon carbide layer 1, another example wherein all of the surface of the carbon base 2 is converted into the silicon carbide layer and a still another example wherein only the dispersed parts of the surface of the carbon base 2 are converted into the silicon carbide and show a high hardness and the self lubricating property.
