Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a homogeneous fiber-reinforced plastic article without bubbles by the resin injection molding method, wherein a resilient body having a Shore A type hardness of 60W80 is employed as a pinch-off.
CONSTITUTION: As the pinch-off element 7 for discharging air within the mold is used various rubbers, Teflon and other resilient bodies having a hardness of 60W80 determined by a Shore A type hardness meter. Reinforcing fibers such as glass fibers are placed on the male mold 1, the female mold 2 is adjusted by the guide pin 3, then the molds are clamped by a clamping device 4, a thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin or unsaturated polyester is injected via an injection port 5, the injection is stopped when air is discharged through the pinch-off 7 and further the resin start to leak, and the resin is cured. The molds may be reinforced by a steel member 6. Since the pinch-off 7 has a suitable hardness, the air can be effectively discharged, and since the outflow of the resin is minimum, the homogeneous article without bubbles can be obtained.
