Abstract

PURPOSE: To forge an undercut part of parts with a simple device by fixing the part having the undercut part with a lower die and an upper die, inserting a collet to the inside surface thereof and pushing the same with a punch.
CONSTITUTION: A molding having an undercut part in the inside of the opening is firmly held by means of a lower die 1 and an upper die 3, and a collet 8 provided with a plurality of segmental collet pieces 8a is inserted thereto. The segmental collet pieces 8a are expanded by the downward movement of a punch 5 owing to the descending of a slide 6 so that the outer surfaces thereof are abutted on the inside surface of the molding. When the slide 6 is further lowered, the upper die 3 draws the outside circumference of the opening inlet part of the molding. The inside surface of the molding abuts on the outside shape of the collet pieces 8a, thus spherical working having an undercut is accomplished. When the slide 6 ascends, the punch 5 ascends and its end circular conical part leaves the collet pieces 8a, then the collet pieces 8a shrink in the direction perpendicular to the axis, and the collet 8 is taken out from the molding.
