Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the detecting efficiency and accuracy of the selvedge deflection of a travelling web by employing a photoelectric detector so constituted that the ine tying its light projector and receiver is allowed to cross the surface direction of the travelling web obliquely.
CONSTITUTION: A photoelectric detector 6, which is provided with a light projector 4 and a light receiver 5 inside its detecting levers 2 and 3 respectively which are arranged on a line crossing the travelling direction of a web C at a necessary angle, is placed close to the selvedge of said travelling web C. When the web C travelling in the solid-line direction deflects as shown by the chain-line arrow and interferes between the light projector 4 and the light receiver 5, the greater part of the light A from the projector 4 is utterly shut off by the wefts W of the web C and consequently the light A hardly passes through the meshes M. Accordingly, the amount of light received by the receiver 5 largely decreases, so that the selvedge deflection of the cloth can be sensitively detected without using an amplifier and the detecting effect and accuracy can be improved.
