Abstract

PURPOSE:To make plating thickness uniform without giving any flaws owing to vibration on the plating surface of a metal strip body by providing a supporting device for the metal strip body to be plated of special construction between the deflector roll and gas blow-off device in a hot dip metal plating device. CONSTITUTION:Hot dip metal plating is applied on the surface of a steel strip, and the metal strip is perpendicularly pulled up by synchronizing rolls. The excess hot dip plating metal is blown away by a gas blow-off device and the direction is changed by deflector rolls. At this time, a strip body supporting device 9 is provided between the gas blow-off device and the deflector rolls. This device consists of circular cases 21 provided on both sides of the plated metal strip body 1, and the inside is divided to a steam chamber 29 and an air chamber 30 by the partition walls 24 provided with rolls 23. The strip body 1 is supported by the cushion of the air ejected through the gaps 34 from the air chamber 30 and the surface of the revolving rolls 23 are wetted by the steam ejected from the gaps 35. Even if the strip body 1 vibrates and contacts with the rolls 23, and hot dip plating metal does not stick on the rolls 23, and since the rolls 23 are revolving at the same speed as that of the strip body 1, no flows are given to the strip body.
