Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform welding efficiently without necessitating preheating and aftertreatment by performing welding under specified conditions such as using a welding rod of specified composition, forming a weld surface molten to sweating out state.
CONSTITUTION: A cast iron welding rod of the following composition is used: 3.1W3.8% C, 4W5.5% Si, C%+0.31 Si%=4.7W5.3%. The conditions of welding are as follows: 1. to form a weld surface molten to a state of sweating out; 2. to melt and drop a welding rod made of nodular graphite cast iron; 3. to maintain an oxide film of the surface of molten pool. By this way, formation of white pig iron in the weld zone and welding defects such as blowholes are prevented and a thin and long bead can be formed easily and quickly.
