Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce stator teeth of high dimensional accuracy with good working efficiency by pressure-contacting a hard tooth-shaped member to a stator tooth blank while rotating said member and relatively moving both while causing the outside circumferential part of the blank to deform plastically.
CONSTITUTION: Spiral grooves 13 of nearly the same pitch as that of the stator tooth 12 to be produced are formed on the outside circumferential surface of a hard circular cylindrical tooth-shaped member 11. A plurality of these tooth-shaped members are disposed to support a stator tooth blank 14 and these are rotated at the same speed in mutually opposite directions. These tooth-shaped members 11 are put in pressure contact with the outside circumferential surface of the blank 14 to cause the outside circumferential part of the blank 14 to deform plastically; at the same time, the tooth-shaped members 11 and blank 14 are relatively moved to form continuous spiral grooves 15 on the outside circumferential part of the blank 14. Thence, the outside circumferential part of the blank 14 is surface-finished by a grinding wheel 16 or the like to grind the top parts of teeth 17, to a trapezoidal shape in section. This is cut to predetermined length and both sides are cut, whereby the stator tooth 12 for linear motor having the grooves 15 and teeth 17 alternately is made.
