Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve high efficiency discharge characteristic and working performance by coating paste onto a core member and applying streaking only onto the active substance layer on both sides of a collector part and scraping the paste, thus forming the collector part. CONSTITUTION:A core member 1a made of nickel is provided in such a configuration as possessing a number of penetrating holes in the center part 1 and no opening on the both edge parts 2 and 2'. Onto the said core member 1a, paste-form active substance containing cadmium as its main component is spread by means of a doctor knife 5. After driving 6, the thickness of the base plate is adjusted by a pair of pressing rollers 7. Then, the core member is passed through a formation apparatus 10 and further passed through an extension apparatus 11 for preventing curvature. After being adjusted to a prescribed thickness and a prescribed porosity by a roller press 12, the core memer is cut down to a prescribed length by a cutter 13. Although only the coated paste-form active substance is scraped off by a slitting milling cutter 9 before the above mentioned formation streaking is applied in advance as its preceding step by a round knife 8, so that the scraping may be accomplished conveniently.
