Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve working performance and capability by continuously coating cathode activating substance in paste form onto the both surfaces of a core member, and after drying, performing groove forming at predetermined positions, and applying pressure by means of a prescribed vibrator, thus removing the activating substance. CONSTITUTION:On the center part of the core member 1 which has number of penetration holes and the both side edge parts 3 and 3' and the center part 4 which have band form, having no hole, cathode activating substance which is in paste form and has cadmium as main constituent is applied, using a doctor knife 5. After drying in a drying furnace 8, the core member is applied with roller pressing 9. Then, grooves are formed only on the cathode activating substance 2 which is applied on both surfaces of the core member 1 by applying a constant pressure onto a round knife 10. Then, the cathode activating substance at the grooved part is applied with vibration by the vibrator 11 which generates the vibration having the amplitude of 20-35mum and the frequency of 18-29khz, applying pressure of 0.1-5kg/mm.<2>, and the cathode activating substance is removed. After that, formation process 12 is applied as in the usual way.
