Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure an easy and accurate measurement of salt injury, by measuring the time in which the terminal voltage of a capacitor descends to a specified value via a pilot insulator which is connected in parallel to a capacitor charged up to a fixed level of voltage and then measuring the insulating resistance of an insulator.
CONSTITUTION: The current is always flowed on the pilot insulator 20 via the AC power source 21 and the switch 17c to keep the same state as an actual insulator. During the measurement, the switch 11 is turned on by the command given from the control circuit 16, and the capacitor 13 is charged by the DC power source 10. The voltage of the voltmeter 14 reaches the setting value E1 to be detected by the deteting means 15a, and the switch 11 is opened with the signal S1 via the circuit 16. At the same time, the change-over switch 17c is opened and the switch 17b is closed, and then the capacitor 13 is discharged via the resistance 19 and the insulator 20. When the voltage reaches the specified value E2, the signal S2 is sent to the circuit 16 from the detecting means 15b. And the discharge time is counted by the counter 18, thus ensuring an easy and accurate measurement of the insulating resistance of an insulator.
