Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which has excellent long-term shelf stability and can be used as an oxygen indicator over a long period of time, consisting of a resin solution contg. a thiazine dye and a reducing sugar and another resin solution contg. an alkaline material.
CONSTITUTION: 5W20pts.wt. of a resin (e.g. ethyl cellose or an acrylic resin) is dissoled in 100pts.wt. of a solvent (e.g. toluene or ethyl acetate) to obtain a resin solution (a). 0.1W5.0pts.wt. of a thiazine dye (b) (e.g. Methylene Blue) and 1.0W 50pts.wt. of a reducing sugar (c) (e.g. D-maltose) are dispersed or dissolved in 100pts.wt. of the resin soln.(a) to obtain a liquid (A). 10W50pts.wt. of an alkaline material (d) [which gives a pH of 8 or above when the material is contacted with water (e.g. NaOH)] is dispersed or dissolved in 100pts.wt. of the resin soln. (a) to obtain a liquid (B). When used, the liquid (A) is mixed with the liquid (B) in such a proportion as to give 1W100pts.wt. of component (c) and 1W100pts.wt. of component (d) per one part by weight of component (b).
