Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which has excellent printability and retains oxygen indicator ability over a long period of time even when the compsn. is left to stand in the presence of oxygen, by a method wherein a specified dye, a reduing sugar and an alkaline material are dissolved or dispersed in a resin solution.
CONSTITUTION: 1W100pts.wt. of a reducing sugar (b) (e.g. D-maltose or loctose) and 1W100pts.wt. of an alkaline material (c) [which gives a pH of 8 or above whe the material is contacted with water (e.g. NaOH or pottasium acetate)] are blended with one part by weight of at least one dye (a) selected from a thiazine dye, a (thio) indigoid dye and a sulfide dye to obtain an oxygen sensing material (B). 5W 20pts.wt. of a resin ( e.g. ethyl cellulose or a polyester resin ) is dissolved in 100pts.wt. of a solvent (e.g. toluene or ethyl acetate) to obtain a resin solution (A). Then 5W40pts.wt. of (B) component is dissolved or dispersed in 100pts.wt. of (A) component. If necessary, about 5wt% of glycerion may be added.
