Abstract
PURPOSE:To mount and demount a diaphragm easily by clipping the long diaphragm in a meandering gap formed by a cathode box and an anode and fixing the same by a diaphragm fixing apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Plural fingers 2 for forming the cathode 4 is provided to the cathode box 1 and the diaphragm attaching frames 3, 3' are provided to an upper and a lower surfaces thereof. The continuous sheet like diaphragm 6 is adhered or welded to the attaching frames 3, 3' and fixed thereto. When mechanical means are used, a peripheral flange part of the diaphragm 6 is inserted between the attaching frames 3, 3' and a press plate 8 and clipped under pressure and fixed by a clip 10 through a packing 7. An anode 9 is vertically provided from a bottom plate 22 and received so as to adjoin the fingers between the anodes 19, 19. Moreover, an opened end of the cathode box is closed by a side plate 14 and connected to a flange 5 by a screw to be integrated therewith as well as an end portion of the diaphragm 6 is clipped therebetween. Thereby, the diaphragm 6 is provided along surfaces of the fingers 2 in a meandering manner as well as a distance between both electrodes is shortened to make it possible to hold the current efficiency well.
