Abstract
PURPOSE:To allow an image element fiber to transmit ultraviolet rays as well as infrared rays and visible light and enhance the light converging capacity of the fiber by superposing SiO2-base clad glass contg. a specified amount of B2O5 and F on SiO2-base core glass contg. a specified amount of Al2O3 and P2O5. CONSTITUTION:An image element fiber for an image fiber is formed by laminating SiO2-base clad glass contg. 0-30wt% B2O3 and 0-10wt% F on SiO2-base core glass contg. 0-10wt% Al2O3 and 0-20wt% P2O5. This optical fiber transmits ultraviolet rays in spite of the SiO2-base glass, and the refractive index difference between the core and clad is made larger to provide high light converging capacity.
