Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the stability of silver peroxide for a cell by adding lead salt and tellurium salt to the silver peroxide and mixing them to allow a specified amount each of lead and tellurium to be contained.
CONSTITUTION: A silver peroxide precipitate obtd. by the reaction of alakli hydroxide, silver nitrate and alkali persulfate is filtered, wahed, and dried. To this silver peroxide are then added lead salt or metallic lead power and tellurium salt or metallic tellurium powder, and they are mixed to allow ≥0.01wt% as metal each of lead and tellurium components to be contained in the silver peroxide. Lead monoxide, lead nitrate or the like is especially effective as a lead compound used, and potassium tellurite may be used as a tellurium compound. The maximum amount of both the components used is about 10wt% in total. The particle size is preferably ≤ about 50μm for the most part. Thus, the stability of silver peroxide for a cell is improved, and the gas generating rate can be lowered.
