PURPOSE:To reduce distortion by providing a side response control method that controls the output of an FM detector. CONSTITUTION:An input signal is frequency-converted by RF part 2 into signal (IF) of an intermediate frequency, which is amplified by IF amplifier 6 after passing through IF filter 3, IF amplifier 4 and IF filter 5 and then detected by FM detector 7. In addition to the signal system from the output of IF amplifier 6 to FM detector 7, IF filter 11 and AM detector 12 are provided so as to control muting circuit 13 arranged behind FM detecdor 7. Next, AM detector 12 outputs a control signal that corresponds to the selectivity characteristics of IF filter 11.
