Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of powdery substance caused by wear to a photoelectric pickup means and to thereby enhance reliability of a turning angle detecting apparatus, by employing a cover having an erected portion to be fitted into the surface of a boss of a distributor rotor. CONSTITUTION:An annular groove 32 is formed in the end face of a boss 30 which is formed integrally with a distributor rotor 26. Between the boss 30 and a housing 12, there are provided a conical cover 36 formed with a hole at its central portion and having an erected portion 34 surrounding the peripheral portion of the central hole. This erected portion 34 is fitted into the groove 32 formed in the boss 30, and the outer peripheral portion of the cover 36 is fixed by housing 12. Inside the space defined by the cover 36 and housing 12, there is provided a photoelectric pickup 60 consisting of a light emitting element 56 and a light receiving element 58. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to prevent malfunctioning of the apparatus due to sticking of powdery substance produced by the sliding contact between a central contact piece 18 and a rotor electrode 28 to the photoelectric pickup.
