Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the net time needed for the NC lathing by providing two cross slides having a right-handed screw and a left-handed screw as feed screws respectively at symmetric positions with respect to the plane which includes the center axis of the spindle perpendicular to the center axis of the X-axis and crosses the X- axis at right angles. CONSTITUTION:The first and second cross slides 7 and 8 are provided at symmetric positions with respect to a plane M-M which includes the center axis of the spindle and crosses the X-axis 6 at right angles. In order to feed the first and second cross slides 7 and 8 while keeping said symmetry with respect to the plane M-M, the X- axis 6 is provided with a portion 9 on which a left-handed screw has been threaded and a portion 10 on which a right-handed screw has been threaded, and onto said portions 9 and 10 nuts 11 and 12 of the first and second cross slides 7 and 8 are screwed. When the X-axis 6 is driven by a servo motor 13, the first and second cross slides 7 and 8 are simultaneously moved to the right or left by the same amount respectively, and an NC machining is performed by a pair of bits provided on both the slides 7 and 8.
