Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled copolymer having excellent heat resistance and impact resistance and being useful as a material for car parts, which has a limiting viscosity in a specified range and which comprises a propylene/α-olefin random copolymer and an ethylene homopolymer.
CONSTITUTION: Titled copolymer is obtained by forming, in the presence of a stereospecific polymerization catalyst, (A) 50W99pts.wt. of a random copolymer of propylene and a C5WC12 branched α-olefin as represented by the formula, wherein m is 0W7, R1 is methyl or ethyl, R2 is a C1WC8 alkyl and R3 is H, methyl or ethyl, such as 3-methylbutene-1 and (B) 1W50pts.wt. of an ethylene homopolymer and a random copolymer of ethylene, a C5WC12 branched α-olefin and optionally propylene. Moreover, the resulting copolymer is required to have an MW corresponding to a limiting viscosity measured in decalin at 135°C, in the range of 0.3W15dl/g.
