PURPOSE:To facilitate the maintenance and inspection of a vapor cooled transformer when the leakage of cooling liquid takes place in the cooling system by a method wherein radiated heat from a condenser of the vapor cooled transformer is transmitted to the first cooling liquid, and after the heat radiated from the first cooling liquid is transmitted to the secondary cooling liquid, it is radiated to the open air. CONSTITUTION:A refrigerant like Freon, etc., evaporating to cool the inside of the transformer 1 is compressed in a compressor 2, the compressed refrigerant the heat in the condenser 3 and adiabatically expands passing through the expansion valve 4, and the reduced temperature refrigerant recurs to the transformer 1 to cool the transformer 1. The heat radiated from the condenser 3 is transmitted to the first cooling liquid, the first cooling liquid is stirred with a stirrer 11 in the case 10 to transmit the heat to a heat exchanger 7. The heat transmitted to the exchanger 7 is transmitted to the secondary cooling liquid circulating in the exchanger 7, and is radiated to the open air from a radiator 8. The first cooling liquid and the secondary cooling liquid are consisted of liquids unable to be mixed with each other like oil and water. By this way, when the leakage of cooling fluid is detected in the cooling system, the maintenance and inspection can be performed easily without generating the deterioration of inslation of the transformer 1.
