Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize an automatic measurement of the calorific value, by irradiating the X and gamma rays to the petroleum products to detect each transmission line and density and obtaining the concentration of C, H and S each from the detection values obtained above to carry out an operation with the C/H concentration ratio and the C-H combination heat. CONSTITUTION:The sample petroleum is put into the density detector 1 (of vibration type) through the pipeline 4 from the plant. Then the detection signals are sent to the sulfur converter 5 and the composition converter 6 from the pipeline 4 via the sulfur detector 2 using the X rays of 20KeV and the composition detector 3 using the gamma rays of 60keV each. As a result, the calorific value of the petroleum products can be measured automatically and in a high accuracy without no variance caused by the type of petroleum.
