Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a catalyst which increases the ratio of hydrogen isotope yield to equipment cost, by allowing specific catalyst metal to be carried on the outside surface of porous particles and the inside surface of pores of the porous particles of styrene divinylbenzene copolymer having a specific particle diameter.
CONSTITUTION: On the outside surface of porous particles and the inside surface of pores of the porous particles of styrene divinylbenzene copolymer having 0.5W 10mm sphere equivalent diameter is carried a catalyst metal composed of one or more members selected from the metals of the eighth group of the periodic table in order to prepare a catalyst for water-hydrogen system hudrogen isotopic exchange reaction. Porous styrene divinylbenzene copolymer is prepared, for example, by mixing 280pts. styrene, 120pts. divinylbenzene, 200pts. secondary hexylalcohol, 200pts. dichlorobenzene, with 4pts. benzoyl peroxide, by initiating the polymerization of the mixture at 85°C, by adding water and calcium tertiary phosphate when the viscosity is increased to 80W120cp, and by polymerizing the mixture for 10hrs.
