Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize sprinkling of a liquid to be treated, enhance heat-transfer characteristics and prevent deposition of scale by a method wherein a partition wall is provided at the lower part of an upper-stage multiple-effect evaporator, and a sprinkling chamber formed with a perforated plate therebeneath is communicated with the next-stage multiple-effect evaporator.
CONSTITUTION: The vertical-type multiple-effect evaporators 20a, 20b, 20c are partitioned by partition walls 12. The perforated plate 7a is placed below each of the partition walls 12 so that each sprinkling chamber 14 is formed with the partition wall 12 and the perforated plate 7a. The sprinkling chamber 14 is communicated with the next-stage evaporator through an opening 22. The treated liquid in the first-stage evaporator 20a flows through a communicating pipe 13 formed in the wall 12 into the chamber 14, and is sprinkled into the next-stage evaporator 20b through the perforated plate 7a. In this case, the pressures in the chamber 14 and in the evaporator 20b are maintained equal to each other through the opening 22, so that the treated liquid falls by its own weight and is sprinkled stably.
