Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify a circuit constitution and to make its size small by a method wherein a light emitting system and a light receiving system in a detection circuit are not constituted in separate bodies, but the two are connected in series and circuit parts are used in common. CONSTITUTION:An LED31 and a phototransistor 61 are connected in series. Here, if a material 5 to be detected interrupts a photoconductive passage, a phototransistor 61 is placed in a noncontinuity state and a current flows in a circuit composed of the radiative diode 31 and a resistor 15. Accordingly, the LED31 emits a light as it is. Since the phototransistor 61 is placed in a noncontinuity state, no voltage appears at an output terminal 12 between the phototransistor 61 and an output resistor 11, thus, maintaining a grounding potential. When, the material 5 to be detected moves from a light interruption state to a transmitting state, the phototransistor 61 is placed in a continuity state and a current runs between the phototransistor 61 and the output resistor 11, as a result, a voltage higher than the grounding voltage appears at the output terminal 12. This voltage varies in accordance with the quantity of light transmitting the material 5 to be detected, and the voltage value can be detected by the state of the material 5 to be detected. In this way, a circuit constitution can be simplified.
